A Day in the Country is a fall festival hosted by the Village of Rochester. Many years ago, a small group of citizens formed a committee with the plan to begin a fall festival that the citizens of Rochester could enjoy, while also inviting others into our town so that they would become aware of the friendly nature and beauty of this small town. This idea has grown into what is now an annual event hosted by a collaborative group of village citizens and business people. The scope of the occasion has grown, but the underlying purpose of its existence remains the same: to offer the residents of the Village of Rochester an opportunity to gather and invite those from other areas to join us in enjoying the friendliness and beauty of our historic community.
Recently, the festival committee focused on adding features to the event that would appeal to families with children. Community State Bank sponsored the children’s area, and we were able to offer a petting zoo, games and face painting at no cost to the participants. The intention was to transform A Day in the Country into an event that would provide activities for youth and help connect them to our community.
